Dress Code

2017/2018 Dress Code

Please ensure that you have the proper dance attire for your respective classes. We strongly encourage that you purchase the suggested brands and styles to ensure proper instruction and unity in performance.

A representative carrying the recommended products will be available to you on September 28 from 4:00-7:00 pm.

The class dress codes that require specific dance clothing and footwear will be enforced starting October 16, 2017. Until this time, please come to class in clothing that most resembles the dress code required. Please bring clean, non-marking sneakers in lieu of tap shoes. 

 

General Dress Code

  • Jewelry is not permitted with the exception of pierced studs and medical alert bracelets
  • Dance shoes will not be worn outside of the studios
  • Street shoes will not be worn anywhere inside the building
  • Street clothes should be worn over dance attire when entering and leaving the studio
  • Hair must be secured off the face and in a ponytail (when possible) when a ballet bun is not required
  • Sports bras and midriff baring tops will not be acceptable dance attire

 

Adult Tap, Adult Barre

  • Bring what you have
  • Seek advice from the instructor before purchasing

 

Baby & Me

  • Comfortable clothing 
  • Clean and comfortable indoor shoes or bare feet
  • Baby carrier optional

 

Ballroom, Latin

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Shoes with leather soles
    • Heels for ladies (optional for Latin Beats)

 

Ballet – females

  • Hair must be secured in a ballet bun (short hair must be secured and off the face)
  • Black camisole style ballet body suit  
    • Recommended: Child’s Capezio Camisole Leotard with adjustable straps (Item #CC100C) or Adult Capezio Camisole Leotard with Bratek BX110 or CC110 
  • Pink ballet shoes
    • Pre Ballet/Level 1/Level 2 – leather
    • Level 3/Level 4 – canvas
    • Rec Ballet – leather or canvas
  • Pink convertible ballet tights

 

Ballet – males

  • Black jazz pants  
  • Solid white or black t-shirt
  • Black ballet shoes

 

Jazz – females

  • Black camisole style ballet body suit (see ballet recommendations)
  • Tan jazz shoes
  • Beige tights
    • Mondor (lighter beige)
  • Black dance shorts (not required)

 

Jazz – males

  • Black jazz pants  
  • Solid white or black t-shirt
  • Black jazz shoes

 

Tap – females

  • Black camisole style ballet body suit (see ballet recommendations)
  • Beige Bloch Show Tappers and Tap-Ons 
    • Higher heel when possible
  • Beige tights
    • Mondor (lighter beige)
  • Black dance shorts (not required)
  • Ballet crossover sweaters (not required)

 

Tap – males

  • Black shorts
  • Solid white or black t-shirt
  • Black Bloch lace-up tap shoes

 

Ballet Lyrical – females

  • Black camisole style ballet body suit (see ballet recommendations)
  • Tan jazz shoes or bare feet
  • Beige tights
    • Mondor (lighter beige)

 

Hip-Hop 

  • Athletic wear 
    • No logos, jeans, shorts, or bare midriffs
  • Clean white sneakers

 

Acro – females

  • Black camisole style ballet body suit (see ballet recommendations)
  • Black dance shorts
    • No tights or shoes

 

Acro – males

  • Black shorts
  • Solid white t-shirt
